The Nags Head Beach Inn was originally called the Nags Head Beach Club in the 1930'S. The Beach Club was the Annex to the Nags Header Hotel, one of the original hotels on the Outer Banks. It was a pavilion style dance hall where guests could see big bands and vaudeville type acts. Lost Colony cast members frequented the club after their performances. Photos of this era are on display.
Hotel rooms were eventually built right over the dance floor. In the early 70's, the building was moved north from the beach access at Bonnett Street to where it is today, across from the beach access at Admiral Street on 303 East Admiral Street. A nearby house was attached to the building, which is now our, the innkeepers', residence. It was called the Ocean Inn for the many years before we acquired it. After 15 years in the restaurant business on Hatteras Island, we decided to purchase this wonderful historic building and preserve it.
